I just cleaned my room and added a few things. I'll be adding living room photos very soon. It's a mess right now and I can't be bothered to clean it. Anyway, happy fourth of july!

What you see when you walk in. I have the old comforter back on my bed again since it's summer and it's much cooler to sleep in compared to my heavy thick one. The black chandelier is my newest addition. It should be hanging lower than this by chains, but I can't quite reach the top standing on a chair and it's impossible to adjust. I'll live with this for now.

thank you :-)

I just wanted to say a quick thanks to everyone who commented on my apartment (it was the one with the hot pink lime green and bright blue walls) I loved reading all the comments and really appreciated the advice. I couldn't reply to them all, but I did read them all.
Thanks again for taking the time :-)
It made my week.
This photo is a dress by Suzanne Ermann. I'm trying to figure out how to describe the technique for getting the "Tulle de Voile" to swirl like it does in this picture. Someone said you cut it on the bias and then stretch the fabric while sewing the binding to the tulle using a sewing macine. Does this sound right? Any other theories?

Also, is it still technically called a bias cut if the tulle is hexagonal rather than plain weave?

When Nick Teich created a free account on the online personals site BisexualDatingNow.com last week, he decided to disclose that he is transgender. Perhaps he shouldn’t have.

"They say, tell us about yourself in your own words. And I stated, ’I’m a 25-year old trans guy living in Boston.’ . . . I didn’t want to mislead anyone looking at my profile, so that’s why I put that," said Teich. Within a day he had received three "smiles," which members send to express their interest in getting to know each other.

Teich thought little of his decision until he wrote to the site’s customer service staff about a problem he was having using the site. He exchanged e-mails with a customer service representative named Kiar Dupuis, and after reading his profile Dupuis informed him that the site does not allow transgender users.

"I am sorry, as a transgender, our site would not meet your needs. I am afraid we have to remove your profile," wrote Dupuis, according to an e-mail provided to Bay Windows by Teich. His profile was deleted shortly after he received the e-mail.

recipes?

Hi guys,
I know this isn't Melbourne related but I also know a lot of different people read these posts so I thought I'd give this a go... one of my colleagues' has a nephew who at two years old has been diagnosed with cancer. He's being going through chemo and endless tests and such, and has been put on a very strict diet... As he is so young, his family are having trouble getting him to eat the suggested foods... the doctors have suggested they try to find recipes for snack foods like biscuits etc but my colleague has been searching for days and hasn't been able to find anything...

It's kind of a long shot because of the things he's not allowed to eat but I thought I would give this a go to try and help her and her family out...

He needs to eat things that are:
-gluten free
-sugar free
-wheat free
-dairy free

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Indigo didn't take

  • Jul. 3rd, 2008 at 6:45 PM
I've been no 'poo for about 5 months now and am loving it!

I have chemically-dyed black hair, and want to get into using henna instead.  I tried the Light Mountain  brand in black, which came with henna and "black henna" which I'm assuming is indigo.  Only the henna took. (It was the "cover the gray" kind, although I don't have much gray. I don't know if that makes a difference.) I even had a friend's mom who's a hair stylist put it on since I never know what I'm doing when it comes to my hair :)  My roots turned reddish from the henna, but the indigo didn't take at all. I was really disappointed with the fact that it didn't work after a process that took so long.  I ended up having her dye my hair with a chemical dye, because I didn't really like the red-roots look.

Is Light Mountain not a good brand? I would have to spend close to $50 for the henna and indigo from henna for hair, and I'd prefer not to spend that much if possible.  I left each package that was in the box on for about an hour, is that too short? Is the "cover the gray" kind not good to use on non-gray hair?

Any helpful hints/  suggestions are welcomed!

I'm cross-posting this as well.

I HATE THIS CPAP!!!!!

  • Jul. 4th, 2008 at 1:25 AM
okay. i have been using my cpap for a good amount of time, a few months probably. in the beginning, i didn't really mind it. but lately, i just cannot stand the thing. i feel like it's such a handicap. i cannot get comfortable when it's on, so i wake up at about 6 in the morning and figure it's alright if i sleep the rest of the time without it. i'm still ripping it off in the middle of the night without knowing it too. it's bad because my insurance says that i have to use it for six hours every night or else they won't pay for it, and lately that hasn't been the case.

when i sleep without it, i feel absolutely no different. i don't even feel like i've been affected by the cpap at ALL since i've started using it. i don't know how long it takes for most people to feel better with it, but i feel like i'm gradually starting to hate it more and more. what is going on!!!

p.s. does anyone have any easier cleaning tips? i'm terribly lazy so i hate getting up and filling the little tub with soap and washing every piece. i haven't even washed the hose in so long, which is probably gross. i know i'll probably just have to suck it up and DO IT but you know, if you have any tips it'd be helpful haha.

CORSET SALE (again!)

  • Jul. 4th, 2008 at 12:08 AM
Now, this one TOTALLY breaks my heart, because it still fits me perfectly and is beautiful to the point of super beauty, but unfortunately times are tough right now, and food, gasoline and rent are more important than pretty clothes for the new little family of myself and boyfriend. So, I figured I'd check on the interest and see what's up.

This is a 29" standard-sized overbust longline corset by Electra Designs made of raspberry dupioni, black devore overlay and black ribbon accents and laces. The exact measurements I do not have at present (but can get for serious inquiries and will update the post later), but the waist completely closed is 29" (with the recommended 2" gap, it's 31"). The ribbon and devore overlay are only on the front.

This is a VERY well-made item, and when Alexis starts taking orders again and I have more expendible moolah, I will order again- you will NOT be let down.

The corset to have made was roughly $340.00, I'm asking $250 initially or best offer. PLEASE contact me via my email- jennifer.m.griggs@gmail.com- NOT HERE for serious inquiries only. I need the money fairly soon, so I cannot take holds over 48 hours.

Here are some pics behind the cut:

Again, SERIOUS inquiries only TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS- jennifer.m.griggs@gmail.com. Thanks!

Oh dear god it has to do with tax!

  • Jul. 4th, 2008 at 3:03 PM
I've just got myself a brand-spanking new second job and now I have to work out all the tax stuff.

Does anyone know how to make what is currently my first job into my second job and have my new job as the first?

Believe me my post makes even less sence to me :)

Any help would be great

3 cats 1 dog

  • Jul. 3rd, 2008 at 9:14 PM
So, my apartment managers are moving to Hawaii and they can't take their pets with them. After some long and careful consideration Chris has adopted their cat and I adopted their dog.

I already had 1 cat, as does Chris, and it was a difficult decision, but since their cat is an indoor/out door cat and I'll be leaving the apartment in a few months we felt that it was okay to adopt them both. We didn't feel it was right to let Doobie (the cat) leave the neighborhood into a new family somewhere since she knew this neighborhood so well, and I have wanted a dog for a really long time and Ginger (the dog) is probably one of the best kind of first dog/apartment type of dog someone can get.

We began a slow transition of spending more and more time with us and less with their original owners so that the transition wouldn't be such a shock, as well as to make sure they got along well with the current two cats.

As of July 5th they will be official ours. So to celebrate I will share photos. I apologize for semi blurry photos, its hard to get pets to sit still.

Kiki (Chris'):

Surprisingly they are all female.

I also would like to ask if anyone knows of a good way to help a dog cope with getting a new owner after 9 years. Or any advice you may have for me, and having a 9 year old dog that has arthritis in her hips.

Tonight...

AromaMeet this afternoon from about 5pm.

It's on at the Hilton Aromas, on Elizabeth St, in Brisbane.

Afterwards, you might like to stroll along to the Trash Video Cabaret Benefit Gig, which starts at 7pm...
